RED CROSS SWIMMING LESSON

INFORMATION

 

HRCE has affiliated with the American Red Cross and will be offering their swimming lesson curriculum beginning in 2009.  All Instructors will attend training and be certified by the Red Cross as WSI’s (Water Safety Instructors).  Class sizes will be limited to 15 and we will follow ARC recommendations of 1 instructor per every 7 students.  We will no longer use assistant instructors unless they are also WSI’s.

 

We will also be making some scheduling adjustments on times and lesson levels for future years.  That information will be included in the Summer Brochure and will also be distributed through the schools prior to the end of the School year.

Hesston Swim Team

                                                                  

We are a member of the MKL Swim League with 10 other area towns.  League administration is handled through the HRCE office.

 

Practice begins in late May after school ends, generally 3 per week:  Competitions begin the first Saturday in June and continue until the 10-team League meet in early to mid July.

 

Youth age 8 to 18 are eligible to be part of the team.  The only requirement for younger swimmers is the ability to swim one length of the pool without assistance.  Contact HRCE at (620) 327-7128 with questions.
